If you need sewer line repair in Bozeman, MT, PJ's Plumbing & Heating is the company to trust. We recommend trenchless sewer line repair whenever possible. This “no dig” approach to sewer repair minimizes your costs and disruptions to your home. One option is to install high-density polyethylene (HDPE) via pipe bursting. An alternative, which preserves the original pipe, is pipe lining.
"These guys are amazing! They were so professional great the schedule with. When they arrived they were able to replace my water heater in under an hour. I highly recommend them."
If you suspect that you may need sewer line repair in Bozeman, a video camera inspection is the first step. The process involves a high-resolution camera attached to a cable. The cable twists and turns and allows us to thread it through your sewer line. We’ll be able to assess any sewer line problems in real-time. You’ll be able to see them as well through our monitor.
If you do have a sewer line problem, trenchless sewer line repair is preferrable. We can normally complete a trenchless repair in under a day. If we do need to dig, the process can take multiple days and require us to excavate your yard. Fortunately, either pipe bursting or pipe lining will work in most cases.
The pipe bursting process involves the use of a bursting head. We’ll insert it into the old pipeline breaking it up as we go. Attached to the bursting head is the new HDPE pipe. It immediately replaces the old piping that the bursting head destroys. This does require the digging of two pits for access points, but that’s it.
The pipe lining or relining process preserves the original pipe. Our plumbers use a sleeve, which the industry also calls structural pipe lining or cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP). We insert it into the old pipe and inflate it. Once we remove the bladder, the epoxy typically cures on its own and is ready to go in several hours. Alternatively, we can speed up the process using either steam or ultraviolet light.
Our customers often ask us whether pipe lining or pipe bursting is preferable. The answer depends. If both are an option, we’ll generally recommend CIPP. It’s the faster and more affordable process. It’s cheaper simply because there’s a lot less labor involved.
That said, CIPP isn’t always viable. If the sewer pipe is too old or damaged, CIPP won’t work. In that case, pipe bursting is necessary because it breaks the old pipe up and effectively gets rid of it. Another reason to consider pipe bursting is that the fix lasts longer and is less prone to needing additional repairs.
